Boom Goes The Dynamite.

My inner child is still fascinated by cartoons; when I found out the TV channel, Viva, started showing reruns of Spongebob Squarepants I was overjoyed. The distinctive style and bright colours of Lichtenstein's work and Warhol's clashing hues and prints caught my eye from a young age. Cartoons are definitely not just for children anymore (we're looking at you, Matt Groening and Seth MacFarlane) meaning the fashion world found some unlikely style icons and pop art leapt from canvas to clothing.

Jeremy Scott's Autumn/Winter 2012 collection was popping with bright, cartoon adorned knitwear and with the likes of Cara Delevingne and Grimes fashioning the famous 'Bart Simpson' knitwear, it seemed that this fun trend wasn't going anywhere.

The pieces on the catwalk. Bart Simpson knickers, anyone?

The high street has been quick to follow suit, bringing in fun twinsets, comic book logos and pop art print clothing

Topshop's 'Bang' twinset worn in its entirety can bring some va-va voom to anyone's wardrobe. The crop jumper could also be teamed with some high waist tapered trousers and the skirt  could worn with a simple buttoned up white shirt and bright accessories.

The jumper can be found here and the skirt here
Topshop also offers more cartoon-esque pieces such as Pixelated Heart earrings and my personal favourite, the 'Pow Comic' tights

Markus Lupfer and Wildfox at Urban Outfitters provide some kick-ass sweatshirts that can be dressed up heels and chunky jewels or played down with denim and creepers. Either way these cosy jumpers pack a punch. Kapow!

Now, last but by all means least is the Andy Warhol collection at Uniqlo. As if that shop needed to get any cooler! The entire collection is to.die.for. and what is even better is that the pieces are an absolute steal! Unfortunately at this time the UK Uniqlo site is under construction but for now feast your eyes on this little number from the collection, the Campbell's Soup Tunic. This can be worn with thick tights, chunky ankle boots and a coat whilst the colder weather loiters and once summer hits it's bare legs, huge 70's style sunglasses and sandals all the way!

Fortune Favours The Brave.

Having spent years pouring over other people’s blogs, abundant with photographs of the beautifully clad and every sentence dripping with inspiration, I thought it was my turn to give it a shot. The blogging world has exploded over the last couple of years and the most successful fashion/beauty/style blogs offer some tough competition (but also a good read) so this is a terrifying venture for me. But fortune favours the brave, so here we go!

Here are some of the photos I've taken over the years whilst wandering the streets of London.

Floral Punk: a punk kindly offers some
impromptu modelling

Bright Tights: this woman proves leopard print
and bright colours are always a winner
Reflective: a photo of a coat in the V&A fashion
collection with a photograph accidentally, but
beautifully, reflected onto the glass encasing it

Bargain: a rail of vintage dresses at a stall in Camden

A Piece of the Oriental: a stall selling all sorts of Japanese cuteness,
mainly Hello Kitty and Totoro memorabilia and jewellery

Me in a nutshell: I have a pile of Vogue magazines that is easily eight times my height (I am pretty short, but I feel this is still a significant piece of trivia). I have a fetish for sequins, a fancy for pearls and a fondness for glitter. I like to photograph everything and anything, I'm always very snap happy, much to the annoyance of my friends and family at times; follow me on instagram here if ya fancy it. My faith lies in accessories and I possess an imagination that knows no bounds.

I am a regular writer for the fashion section of online publication, The Surrey Scholar. My articles have covered a lot of ground, from the neon trend to Japanese fashion to vintage shopping and everything in between. To look at my latest article, click here, while you're at it, why not have a cheeky butcher's at the other articles by myself and others on offer!

My blog is about fashion and all the creativity it encompasses. I hope you enjoy it!
